We believe that the over-the-road drivers of this country move this country and need bookkeeping and tax services that are specifically tailored to their needs. We are committed to providing excellent customer service to the drivers. We will forever strive to provide the over-the-road truck drivers the best possible service for the lowest possible price.

OVERVIEW:
Lisa Bentley, Owner of Bentley Tax & Business Services, was borne into the trucking industry. Her first "ride" in an over-the-road truck was when she was 3 months old. As she became an adult, she kept her interest in the trucking industry. In addition to driving a truck herself, she married an over-the-road truck driver. Although both Lisa and her husband have given up driving, she has remained in the industry. Upon starting her education in 2001 to obtain an Accounting degree from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO, Lisa felt that she could help the people that meant the most to her - the over-the-road truck drivers.

With this in mind, Lisa started Bentley Tax & Business Services in September of 2002. She developed the Trucker’s Only program in an easy-to-read format for truck drivers to know their tax status at any time during the year. This program uses the basic Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet to report income and expenses for not only owner-operators, but also for company drivers. The only requirement of the drivers is that they send in their information in provided pre-addressed, pre-stamped envelopes to Bentley Tax & Business Services once a month along with their monthly payment. In addition, she kept the prices for this service at reasonable rates that drivers could afford - $10 to $30 per month. Lisa started to market her idea directly to the drivers with an overwhelming response. Within the first 3 months, she had 18 independent drivers signed up with her service. She still has those drivers today.

Lisa also understands the accessibility issue facing truck drivers today. Therefore, Bentley Tax & Business Services is constructing a new office located just 3 miles off of Interstate 44 in Carthage, MO that will include semi tractor-trailer parking. In addition, Bentley Tax & Business Services has provided the drivers with a toll free number where they can reach someone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Also, drivers have access to a website where they can send an email directly to Lisa or make a payment. One of the major future goals of the business is that within the next two years, our truck drivers will have the ability to submit their income and expense receipts electronically from any truckstop nationwide.
